Mamiya

I LOVE my TLR (: I love it, I love it, I love it to bits!!! <3 <3 <3

Their supposed to represent hearts, but somehow they look like rat heads to me... < pointy face, 3 ears. Hmm.

Ok. That's beside the point. My TLR arrived yesterday! :D and so far, its fine. I'll have to wait for the first roll to develop.

Everything's perfect, except for the slightly peeling leatherette, the winding which is a bit jerky, and that the taking lens has 2 big dust flecks in it. There are no cleaning marks, haze, fungus, or even scratches! It's BEAUTIFUL. I love it. Strangely, my lens is an 80mm, but the focusing screen is the 55/65mm's. I have no idea what that represents though. I can only hope the test roll will turn out fine (:

I LOVE THAT HEAVY MONSTERRRRR!!

Apologies for the kiddy adoring post.

TLR and bears

I enjoyed myself immensely today, shooting with Shawn's seagull.

We went to the Kranji War Memorial, which is a short walk from Kranji MRT. Although the skies and its light drizzle was not on our side, the rain fortunately stopped before we reached the memorial's gates.

The TLR was very interesting, albeit being very frustrating to use. One's hands had to be steady and straight. Mind had to get used to the mirror-view (moving right becomes left in the viewfinder). Had to pop up the magnifier, and meter, and cock the shutter, and wind... It sounds like a pain in the ass, which it is. And the click at the end. Not really a click even. Very strange and muffled compared to the satisfying 'CLACK' of my FE2. However, still a great experience - which will be confirmed when I develop the film.

However... it is extremely unconducive for action shots, or even those with people moving at a slow pace. If you are anal that is, and I am quite (:

Certainly, you will not be able to get shots such as these:

Cubs climbing up a tree for safety, and their mother frightened, huddled, and ready to protect her babies at the base of the tree.

This mother was the exact same one that chased me and my own mother (who I can't help but recall, pushed me towards the bear while trying to save her skin) but she was really helpless in this photo as there were about 20 people crowding her in. I cannot imagine how scary it was for her, being such a young mother.

Macau

Flying off tomorrow.

I was thinking of trying my luck at gambling, but the wife says we're not allowed to spend there, so much for changing currency.

Wonder what I'll do there... and wonder if grandma's gonna be fine as my family walks so much overseas it could be counted as training for a marathon.

Anyway, I got my Velvia back from Fotohub, and I'm loving the colours (: Bokeh for the Nokton is also fine with me despite what others say.

Will upload the photos when family's back from the trip. Will not be bring the CL as... bringing a new camera on each trip we go is not a good thing, haha!

It started with:
UK - Olympus P&S
Bangkok & South Africa - Nikon D80 and above
Canada - Nikon FE2 and above
Macau - Leica CL and above? HAHA! The old man's not gonna be happy.

I see a disconcerting trend now... from the compact to the dslr... and backwards I go into film with the slr and rangefinder.

Next will be a tlr, I can't wait hehe (:

OVERJOYED

I realised I often (cancel that, always) blog about my life while friends contemplate complicated issues on theirs.

But oh well, it is a personal blog!

(:

I am so glad, SO GLAD, that my Economics test and Biz Journalism assignment are over and done with!! My heart explodes with joy as my eyes can finally rest lovingly on websites about cameras and lenses, and the occasion Japanese drama.

Did I mention I was exploding with joy?

Leica... Rangefinder... Tmax... Film FILM FILM FILM!

:D

Oh yes. I have to stiffen my resolve to sell some gear away. Cameras are supposed to be like a part of my body... yet I barely have time to acquaint myself with my D80 and its lenses... To say the least of my new Leica CL and Nikon FE2.
