Yesterday

Yesterday, I saw the most beautiful thing I'd seen in a long time.

My heart stilled, for a moment.

A Leica CL in a perfect unmarred black coat stared back at me, making me long to run my fingers down its smooth body.

AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Its more beautiful than an M2 could be. I still think of it... (:

Anyway, got the slides yesterday. I'm glad to say that MY CL meters perfectly. I shall console myself with the knowledge that mine is working fantastic, even if it might not resemble a newborn baby.

Used Fuji Velvia 100F, the colours were stunning as usual. Sad to say, when I used Prince Hairy to digitise them (apologies in advance for lousy focus), he couldn't bring out the colours the way they really were!

Anyway, here's most of what was taken. Some photos were burnt out cos I opened the camera to look at the battery haha (:

Okay, not the big time, but the teeny goal I set (: I will endeavour to run though. Just that when I go shooting, my legs can't seem to take much more. Haha!



This here's a big horn sheep. When I was in Jasper, a woman told me she'd love to see one. The day before taking this, I caught a glimpse of one bounding high up in a mountain meadow, just a tiny dot to my eye.

We were pretty lucky to catch a bunch of them sunning themselves in the afternoon. I still am disappointed that we didn't see a moose in daylight though.

I wonder...

I wonder if I should save up for a Leica lens. I've heard quite a bit about their lenses, and especially that its their lenses and not cameras (although darn, they sure are sexy cameras) which are fantastic

However, I'm quite satisfied (and lazy) with my 40 f1.4, and should I get another lens, its prolly a 12 or 15mm voigtlander (: what to do? :P

And I gotta say, I love my FE2 a lot compared to the CL... Gotta start getting out with it more!

OOF, cos was worried parents would think I was a stalker, and anyhow MF! (:

Anyway! I hate sorting my wardrobe.

There's so much stuff! Mountain of jeans - I think I'm a closet jeans fanatic - yet I only wear my favourite pair all the time. Yet they've all been my favourite once upon a time (: So I can't bear to give them away.

And I found my favourite skirt today!!! Hidden among the countless jeans haha!! Was so happy (:

And I gave two pairs of Levi's to Dad. They were once my favourites... But I can't fit anymore into the first one (I think my butt grew) and the second one is a bit loose (my butt shrank?) haha!!! The old man was so mean. When he held up the first pair... he was like. You can fit in?! O__O I was like, yes, last time, haha. How sad :( It fit him perfectly, the butt-less man. He didn't want the second one cos it was loose for him too. But oh well, I told him if he won't take I'll give it away! Of course he won't give it away haha :P

I've finally went through almost all the pants... And I can't bear to give away a single pair ): not even those that are now too big for me... Or those I can't imagine wearing! Every one has a certain significance. I can imagine myself at 40 with a few mountains of clothes, and some of them from decades before (: I still have my primary 2 pants!!! :D

Okay, I'm so lazy to sort through skirts... But I have to ): Denim denim denim....




I have so many bottoms. When can I finally wear all of them?

Obama

I know that president elect, Obama, will do a great job compared to Bush.

But, cutting Y tax for low and middle-income workers? USA is already in such a huge budget deficit, they need money from taxpayers. Instead of relying on other countries to finance their debt. I don't know, guess I'll have to read up more on the stimulus plan.

Highlighter

I realised while studying halfway that I had neon yellow ink from the highlighter on my clothes, the cushion on the sofa (which I managed to wipe off or else Mom would kill me), my hands and my forehead even.

Hope that means I'm studying really hard.

Today wasn't that good a day.

I went to collect my mail at the PO, only to remember it had moved upstairs.

Went I reached the counter, the person asked me for my IC. I had been using my ezlink card all this time, and finally someone asks me for the IC. She insisted that she couldn't give me my mail as firstly the person only wrote Jess instead of my entire name, and my ezlink card didn't have the address.

So much for writing down the NRIC number when mails are collected.

Then I went down to the pet shop to get food for the hamsters, happily thinking along the way that it wasn't a good day and I wouldn't find what I wanted.

Lo and behold the big bag of Vitapol premium was not there. I spent at least 15 minutes looking at different bags wondering which brand to try.

Then after going home and finishing the lazy post, I decided hmmm shouldn't have the self-fulfilling prophecy and decided to go for a run.

Which was pretty good and I ran an extra round but in the middle of my run, I swiped at my cheek as perspiration was running down, and out came my nose stud. Which, being the teeny little thing it is, couldn't be found among the tiles.

FANtastic (:

I'm feeling great though hehe. Though I had to stuff back the old and bigger gold stud down my nose and it BURNED.

Lazy

I am feeling really lazy (:

Rushed home after the exam and... decided it was too hot to go running! So, I switched on the fan and used the Internet.

Then I decided I was feeling too lazy and moved to the recliner and was happily reading blogs (not studying) and now I feel like falling asleep.

But, I should be running. Should I? It's still hot! UGHHHHHHHHHHH how I miss the comfort of the air-conditioned gym ):

I shall stop blogging before I start ranting on how MUCH I miss the pool too..........

Silly

How silly can one get?

Apparently, very.

I've been looking high and low for a missing lens backside-cover... really looking. I've emptied drawers, searched shelves and cabinets. I even looked through my drycabi about thrice.

I had given up finding that cover, deciding that my poor ol' 50mm would have to be Prince Hairy's permanent mate.

And then, today, I decided to take the battery out of my Leica CL and put it together with my FE2's batteries.

Guess what I found? My batteries were all put in the plastic lens cover, and cos my brain had classified it into a battery holder a long time ago (instead of a lens cover), I just didn't notice it each time I looked through the drycabi!

Silly, silly, silly.

And I was looking over my Leica CL carefully too, and found out that someone had used some sort of black marker to cover the brassing all over.

I am rather miffed.

Little sweetie Cappu got a home upgrade today!

He's now living in a silver Habitrail with a little castle inside and he loves it! - the castle, not the cage.

Cedele

Recently went to my favourite pasta place again (: I love pasta!!

Here's some shots taken at Cedele, Great World City.



Their best pasta, the Black Pepper Crab Pasta. Lots of tender crab meat with black pepper aglio olio pasta, topped with soft-shell crab. Yum!



Something new we tried, and didn't care much for. Rose's Laksa Pasta, which tasted more like curry.



A healthy yet delicious choice of Prawn Salad.



This was quite a disappointment, especially if you're looking forward to chili. The Chili Crab Pasta tasted more tomato-based, with just a few lost chili bits sprinkled around. More arrabiata-style.

Zzzz...

I have been having queer dreams lately. They can also be considered nightmares, I suppose.

Not the type that makes you break up in beads of perspiration, or wake up screaming.

This is what I have been dreaming of – falling in love with a monster of a man who mistreats people and is feared by everyone. Somehow I found something beautiful within him. Didn't help that he was handsome. And I woke up not screaming, but shuddering.

Another dream involved having my gums fall out one by one, with teeth attached sometimes. They just started falling out in bits of pieces. I woke up shuddering too, with the resolve to brush my teeth as much as possible. It turned out the nightmare wasn’t sufficiently scary, all I remembered to do was use Listerine at least once a day.

Oh yes, I just recalled this most recent one. I was preparing for camp and realised I completely forgot to bring underwear. What a horrendous thought! And someone brought them for me and gosh what a relief (:

If I get married...

Woozy

Had a bit of a headache today, not sure if the migraines migrated back to my head after a long holiday...

Today was the meet-biz-journalists day, and as it was at 1830, decided to accompany J to her interview as she was a worrywart. (I'm sure she'll get the internship though!)

So, went along, and boy oh boy was it a small company, a bit shocking, especially when this girl in 'home clothes' - loose tee and super small shorts popped out of the office, which looked really... small. Did I mention it was small?

As it was small, there was no waiting area and so I headed down to Spinelli at a nearby building. And I am glad I did! Cos I rather liked the drink I had, Banana Spin. It was like banana + choc + coffee and the mingling tastes just did it for me (:

Finished my boring notes in the meantime.... and was deciding to call J when she called as her interview ended! Finally! So we rushed down to City Hall as I wanted to get my brows threaded. Which I regret, as I ended up with the slip-shot woman... and she did a really painful job too. Well, I'm glad though that J got the better woman as she would have gotten a bad experience and that wouldn't have been nice.

So... rushed down to the SRC where I coincidentally saw the other four classmates walking there - they all came from school. And we headed up where we found Thus. It was rather nice, found out some interesting stuff, met some interesting people - 4 of them. And had 2 Long Island Teas on my stomach (empty except for my Banana Spin) and got rather woozy. Adding to the tiredness, thought I would fall asleep on the table.

So anyway, Thus was happily drinking (pretty much too) and even suggested moving to the Yard to meet others. As I was gonna conk out I said no...

And was so tired I decided to take a cab home instead of eating dinner outside. Suspicious men staring at my camera also played a part in that.

So... I went home. Took a good look at my threaded brows... and after a good long moment of staring at them. I think their uneven, one's higher than the other, some parts are not mirroring each other... I hope its the wooziness from the booze. If not, I'm not going down there anymore, I certainly pluck better than that slip-shot lazy fella!!! Who threaded in 1/3 the time taken for J's.

PISSY DAY.

Oh yes, this morning was worse. After brek, I realised I didn't bring my phone. Was worried I wouldn't be able to get up to SRC or whatever or contact people so Dad drove me home. As I was late to meet Pearly I quickly ran out of the house after a long search for my phone which was not on my bed. Ran down into the car.... As I was putting my specs in the car as Dad drove off, I saw my shoes. Which turned out to be slippers, as I wore the wrong pair! Cursed out loud, Dad was pissed said he wasn't going to go back, stopped halfway and I ran all the way back. It was far, and omg I found out how unfit I was running there. Fortunately my shoes were still there (unlike my sister and dad's shoes which were both stolen) and quickly went back to the car. Then when I reached school... realised I shouldn't have worn jeans. But luckily my pair was fine under the dress code.

ZZZ. Typing all this out doesn't make me feel better, but hopefully I won't make the same mistakes again.

Leica CL

Some things I noted with the CL:

1. I can't focus as fast (or easily) as with my D80 or FE2
2. I'm not used to the knob on the focusing ring
3. Aperture ring not being innermost just flusters me sometimes
4. Hard to do my favourite vertical shots - as being left-eyed, my hand gets in the way of VF
5. Pretty heavy (but lighter than the D80 of course)
6. I keep thinking about the 40 summicron as the nokton is much bigger... and the silver rim is the opposite of inconspicuous
7. Shutter speed is still rather loud... though less than a D80
8. VF is not as bright as my SLRs - does not make sense but for me its true
   
9. I need a comfy strap
10. Not used to vertical lugs
11. Sweaty palms = grip not good - probably need a case too

I don't know, I guess I need to spend more time with my camera.

OVERJOYED

I realised I often (cancel that, always) blog about my life while friends contemplate complicated issues on theirs.

But oh well, it is a personal blog!

I am so glad, SO GLAD, that my Economics test and Biz Journalism assignment are over and done with!! My heart explodes with joy as my eyes can finally rest lovingly on websites about cameras and lenses, and the occasion Japanese drama.

Did I mention I was exploding with joy?

Leica... Rangefinder... Tmax... Film FILM FILM FILM!

Oh yes. I have to stiffen my resolve to sell some gear away. Cameras are supposed to be like a part of my body... yet I barely have time to acquaint myself with my D80 and its lenses... To say the least of my new Leica CL and Nikon FE2.

Leica CL First Roll!! (:

Was at home for the third consecutive day alone with my throbbing head, clogged nose and phlegm-lodged throat.

And then! I remembered the B/W and slides developed recently at Fotohub (: AND! remembered reading how you could upload your film online without a scanner...

So I took Prince Hairy (also known as the Nikon D80 for the unfamiliar) and a macro lens and took a few shots before getting tired and becoming "bedridden" again.
