Darkroom

HA HA HA HAAAAA :D

I printed my first photos in the darkroom today!

Nothing much to brag about, no dodging and burning yet (next week) and only did small ones (4R?) BUT ooooh what fun it was (:

I am really enjoying myself!

And the darkroom people are all nice and fun to work with.

Here's one of the photos I printed:

Except my print came out the other way. So much for san-ba.

Now I'm feeling tired and would like to sleep. I think I shall bake tomorrow if I have time. TIRED!

Work Life Balance

xmas tree bokeh

X'mas Tree Bokeh, Nikon FE2, 50mm f/1.4, Ilford XP2

I have been unable to catch up w things, notably since I've been on my internship. The photo of an x'mas tree when its coming to CNY kinda represents what I feel.

So far, one month is almost over, and I really enjoy doing the writing. Its not really been what I would term 'slack,' with yesterday having to cover two events, the DBS and EZ-Link collaboration (which I found exciting, I even have a cool new ez-link card to show) and a financial briefing.

However, I haven't had the pleasure of writing a really big article, which I hope to accomplish before leaving in June.

Macau

My favourite shot from Macau. Its exactly how I envisioned it, and the shades of black-and-white are beautiful (:

photojourn

I'm not taking advanced photojournalism (:

Learn nothing, waste time, lousy grades.

On the other hand, I'm quite happy about the rest!

I like old bicycles (: I remember the dog being in focus though, prolly didn't focus well while digitising it.

Liftoff

At the airport, I fired quite a few shots, not realising that I had switched off A mode and my shutter speed was stuck at 1/500. Five shots were wasted.

After realising my mistake, I retook this shot:
budget terminal

The original was a much better angle but I was already in the queue and unable to move backwards.

Anyway, the yellow cast present is also seen in the next few photos. I wonder why (:

I'm always sitting at the wing... BTW, I don't like this new shop. Lots of dust and scratches, a big disappointment. Shall try the kodak shop next to it.

Touchdown. The buildings in the background are part of Macau's skyline. However, due to either my shaky hands or lousy focusing, its blur :P

I must admit I'm unhappy using the D80 to digitise my negatives, however the budget does not allow for a good scanner yet.

I wonder...

I wonder if I should save up for a Leica lens. I've heard quite a bit about their lenses, and especially that its their lenses and not cameras (although darn, they sure are sexy cameras) which are fantastic

However, I'm quite satisfied (and lazy) with my 40 f1.4, and should I get another lens, its prolly a 12 or 15mm voigtlander (: what to do? :P

And I gotta say, I love my FE2 a lot compared to the CL... Gotta start getting out with it more!

Today

Today I saw the most amazing sunset ever. The train was stopping at Jurong East. For no reason at all, I turned to look through the window behind me, and the sky was as if the flats were on fire. It was a blaze of red all over, with dark clouds looming above. As if in a trance, I ripped open a roll of Velvia 100F and tried to load it as quickly as possible into my FE2. I snapped off 2 shots, then I realised my ISO setting was incorrect. 2 shots on Velvia wasted - 60 cents gone. I quickly adjusted and fired off another 2 shots before the train moved on.

On the other hand, I got this beautiful A6 fabric notebook for my travels.
